Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
Effective Date: May 17, 2026 Last Updated: May 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Geomaker, LLC, a Georgia limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"), handles information in connection with the Forensic Email Chrome extension ("the Extension").
1. No Automatic Data Collection
The Extension does not automatically collect, transmit, store, or share any data about you or your emails. All email analysis runs entirely on your own device, inside the Extension's service worker in your copy of Google Chrome. No email content, metadata, analysis results, or usage data is sent to Geomaker, LLC or any third party as a result of using the Extension.
2. How the Extension Accesses Your Gmail
The Extension uses Google's OAuth 2.0 authorization flow (via the chrome.identity API) to obtain a token that lets it call the Gmail API on your behalf, using the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly scope. The token is issued by Google, cached by Chrome, and used only to fetch the raw content of messages you are viewing so they can be analyzed locally. The Extension does not have permission to send, modify, delete, or compose email.
3. Local Storage on Your Device
The Extension stores the following information on your device only, using chrome.storage.sync and chrome.storage.local:
Your preferences (which detection modules are enabled, whether tracking-pixel removal and link rewriting are enabled).
A list of "trust" decisions you make while analyzing emails (for example, a sender domain you have chosen to allowlist).
A short-lived cache of analysis results, keyed by Gmail message ID, so previously analyzed messages do not need to be re-fetched. Cache entries expire automatically after 30 days.
This information never leaves your device. If you use Chrome with sync turned on, Google may synchronize the chrome.storage.sync portion across your own Chrome installations under your Google account; that synchronization is performed by Google under Google's privacy terms and is not visible to us.
4. Voluntary Data Collection
We only collect your personal information when you affirmatively choose to provide it to us. Examples of voluntary actions include, but are not limited to, contacting us for support, signing up for a subscription, or submitting feedback.
5. Subscription Information
If you purchase a subscription to the Extension, we may use a third-party service to sell or manage your subscription. That third party may collect information from you directly during the purchase or account management process and will share that information with us. The third party operates under its own privacy policy, which may differ from ours, and we encourage you to review it before completing a purchase.
The information we receive from you or from a third-party subscription manager will be used solely to manage your subscription and communicate with you about your account, updates, and related services. We will not sell, rent, lease, or share your contact information with any other third party for any purpose.
6. Voluntarily Submitted Information and Emails
If you choose to send us personal information or email samples (for example, to report a bug or help improve the Extension), we may use that information for internal product improvement purposes. We will not proactively access, view, or use any information from your Gmail account or your emails beyond what you explicitly submit to us.
7. No Third-Party Data Sharing
Except as described in Section 5 above, we do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties, except as required by law. Consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, we do not transfer user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the Extension, do not use user data for purposes unrelated to the Extension's single purpose, and do not use user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect any information you voluntarily provide to us. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify subscribers of material changes by email. Continued use of the Extension after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
